Thief Simulator is a dynamic first-person stealth simulator where you will become the best thief in the world. Observe your target and gather information that will help you in your break-in. Take on the challenge and rob the best-off houses. Buy high-tech break-in equipment and learn new thief tricks. Sell stolen goods to passersby and avoid drawing too much attention from the police. Do everything a real thief does!

The action of Thief Simulator takes place in several medium-sized locations, with houses and buildings, as well as transport, resembling an American suburb. The entire territory of the world is available for exploration, but the main activities are related to robbing houses and garages.

Realism is enhanced by life-size scale, detailing, and filling of the game world – around houses, there is a garden or backyard, a pool or sports ground, the lot may be fenced, and shops are nearby. All this is connected by a simple network of roads that can be traveled on your transport.

In Thief Simulator, people of different wealth live, which is directly expressed in the sizes of their houses; the larger the house, the more valuable items can be taken from it.

The protagonist has his own base where he can sleep, buy break-in tools, upgrades for his tools, take assignments, sell unnecessary items, and buy information about certain residents.

Players note that the gameplay of Thief Simulator is similar to a unusual mix of GTA 5, Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 , and Hitman: Blood Money.

The main activity is theft in the spirit of GTA. Starting with searching for valuables, money, gadgets, and items, the character eventually begins to steal cars and ends with hacking computer systems to obtain compromising material and confidential data. All of this can be sold on the black market.

Stolen cars are not sold whole; they need to be disassembled into parts and sold as components, for which a garage located at the player's base is used. Cars have a fairly deep structure, as in the old Car Mechanic Simulator – wheels are disassembled into tires, rims, and brake pads; the engine, battery, and transmission are pulled out from the hood; and so on.

Thief Simulator features a well-thought-out stealth system reminiscent of Hitman. The visibility range of NPCs to the protagonist, lighting conditions, and even the shadow cast (at night, a thief can easily be spotted if he is caught in the beam of a flashlight), noise levels, and body position (crouching makes it harder for the thief to be noticed) are all taken into account.

NPCs wander around the game world, who can remember the character, and if he has been seen stealing before, they will recognize him and run to report to the police. Therefore, you need to think smart and try to act stealthily without making noise.

Thief Simulator has two game modes.

The first is the story mode with a series of mandatory and optional quests. A tightly woven story in Thief Simulator in the spirit of Red Dead Redemption 2 about the life of sharp gangsters from the neighborhood is not the case; everything is quite mundane. Right at the start of the game, the character receives a call from his accomplice, who informs him that he owes money for his release.

However, gameplay does not boil down to constant thefts; sometimes you have to make noise to scare the residents, deliver a package with a gang signal to the indebted debtor, or simply smash a storefront.

Since the bald-headed criminal, our protagonist, is out on bail, he must not get caught (this will lead to the game ending). In this regard, all thefts involve an element of risk, which motivates one to become a true thief – cunning, skilled, and... brazen or cautious.

For each successful robbery and quest completion, the character gains experience, which is spent on minor development. You can improve lockpicking, car, and computer skills, reduce noise levels and inventory size, as well as enhance perception for finding something valuable.

The second mode – "New Game +" – is a full-fledged free play without a storyline, with high difficulty, always respawning items, and unlocked abilities with a maximum character level.
